The neck can hold a great deal of grace within its sharp lines. But as our skin matures or we gain weight, we may notice changes to the form of our jawlines. If you have noticed your neckline is beginning to soften and the once sharp jawline has become muted, then you may be a perfect candidate for neck liposuction, which is used in order to redefine the neck and jawline.
Neck liposuction can be used in a variety of ways, but often times is used as a stand alone procedure in order to remove excess fat from underneath the chin, which causes the appearance of a double chin. This is ideal for people who still have a decent amount of skin elasticity and firmness and do not need the removal of excess skin.
Typically the procedure lasts 30 minutes. Recovery time lasts anywhere from 5-to-7 days. Bruising and swelling may occur for the first few days, but should subside within a week. This surgery does not correct sagging skin or target wrinkles, but it will create a contoured neckline for those who tend to gain weight in their neck region.
Because a defined neckline is viewed as a symbol of elegance, neck liposuction is commonly combined with chin augmentations to further enhance the aesthetics of the face and create a more harmonious appearance. Chin augmentations (or chin implants) are done to improve facial balance between the chin and other features. This creates a beautiful contour between the jawline and the neck.
