Hair loss and thinning tends to be an issue that people are aware of, but no one really focuses on. Men struggle often with thinning and receding hairlines, but women tend to be the silent victims of this condition. Between pregnancy and menopause, women face hormonal imbalances that create a number of troubles, including hair loss.
If you find yourself noticing more hair clogging your drain and decreased volume to your once lush, healthy locks, there are a number of both cosmetic and holistic treatments to help stimulate your hair follicles and boost hair growth.
Hair Regrowth Shampoos
One of the most popular ways to prevent and combat hair loss is hair regrowth shampoo. It’s one of the treatments that requires little thinking - just squeeze the product into your hand, lather and rinse! Boom. Thick, silky locks.
Hair regrowth shampoos stimulate the hair follicles and give them a boost with rich nutrients that produce healthy, thicker strands. There is a wide variety of hair regrowth shampoos on the market, ranging from ones that are 100 percent organic to ones that contain scientific-backed ingredients. Noticeable results should occur within a month, but often much sooner. Some of our favorite hair regrowth shampoos include:
PURA D'OR Hair Loss Prevention Premium Organic Argan Oil Shampoo
FoliRevita Volumizing Hair Growth Shampoo
Nioxin Hair Growth Products
NOURISH Beauté Vitamins Hair Growth Shampoo
2. Hair Growth Supplements
Ensuring that your body is getting proper nutrients is essential for a beautiful, full head of hair. If you aren’t able to eat a balanced, rich diet, then vitamins and supplements are a perfect way for you to supply your body with the key elements it needs to function at its highest capacity. Niacin, Zinc, Vitamin C and Biotin are some of the top vitamins and minerals that stimulate hair follicles and increase hair growth, leaving you with shiny, thicker locks.
3. Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment
Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment (PRP) is one of the leading methods in treating hair loss and thinning. The treatment uses the patient’s own blood, which is drawn from the arm. It is then placed into a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the rest of the fluid. The platelet-rich plasma (containing a concentration ranging 2-14 times the average levels of platelets) is then injected into the scalp region. The concentration will stimulate dead hair follicles and promote hair regrowth and healing. Results typically last anywhere from 8 months to a year.
4. Follicular Unit Extraction
FUE is a minimally invasive hair transplant technique that involves harvesting healthy hair follicles from the back of the head and transplanting them into the target area of the scalp. FUE is performed under Local anesthesia, so the patient is awake for it. In order to harvest the hair follicles, an extraction device is used to punch out the area. Then the portions, ranging from 1-4 follicles, are grafted for a customized, natural gradation.
