New Faces of Plastic Surgery: Millenials

The demographic market of patients opting for cosmetic surgeries/procedures has been remarkably evolving within the last few years. Millennials are the new faces of plastic surgery. As technology advances, Dr. Kassir’s office is seeing an increase in non-invasive procedures in patients younger than 30.
What exactly is the driving force behind this increasing surge of Millennials consulting with Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons?
Based on our case studies, two predominant societal factors that stand out are the influence of Social Media, and the normality among celebrities having received such treatments/procedures. Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and SnapChat, have created more of a push to be picture perfect. Additionally, this in turn, has changed what was considered taboo, to be more desired, publicized, and talked about.
So, what exactly are the most common procedures among millennials at our office? The most common procedures among Millennials in our practice include rhinoplasty and non-surgical injectables, such as Dysport and fillers like Restalyne.
While rhinoplasty is a surgical route of altering a variety of factors ranging from aesthetics and functionality, injectables can target an array of aesthetic issues. Millenials are looking for goals such as fuller lips, to emulate the growing trend of celebrities opting for the same treatments.
