What is Juvederm?

Juvederm™ is an injectable dermal filler from Allergan that contains cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA). It recently became approved by the FDA for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of facial lines and folds. The non-animal sourced HA in Juvederm™ is produced by Streptococcus equi, a type of bacteria.

Why choose Dr. Kassir for Juvederm?

Being one of New Jersey’s leading plastic surgeons, Dr. Kassir specializes in dermal fillers such as Juvederm. He can give you the look that you desire using Juvederm.

What areas can be injected with  Juvederm?

Juvederm is typically used to correct fine wrinkles or folds such as nasolabial folds, the creases running from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth. Juvederm  can also be used under eyes, temples, and forehead.

What can Juvederm do for me?

Juvederm can  soften lines and wrinkles that give you that tired, aging look.  It does this by adding volume lost through the aging process.

How is Juvederm different from other dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid?

Juvederm™ contains the highest concentration if hyaluronic acid currently in a filler. This, combined with HA cross-linking, has been proved to increase longevity. Juvederm™'s propriety manufacturing process yields a single-phase homogenous gel that is smoother in consistency than other HA fillers, which utilize a gel-particle suspension. The smoother injection characteristics of Juvederm™ allow use of thinner needles and less pressure to inject.

Can Juvederm give me fuller lips?

Yes, it can! Juvederm’s technology adds volume and fullness to lips leaving you with a sensual, fresh look.

How long do treatments take?

Juvederm injections can be administered in 15-30 minutes.

What are the side effects?
The side effects of Juvederm are mild or moderate, and their duration is short (7 days or less). The most common side effects include:

  • redness, pain
  • tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps
  • bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration

What should I expect after the procedure?

Within 24 hours, you should avoid the following:

  • Strenuous exercise
  • Extensive sun and/or heat exposure
  • Alcoholic beverages

Exposure to these may cause redness, swelling, and itching at the injection site.

What can I do to alleviate the side effects?

If there is swelling, apply an ice pack to the swollen area to reduce discomfort.

How soon can I see the results?

The great thing about Juvederm is that results can be seen immediately following the procedure. Juvaderm contains hyaluronic acid that attracts water which induces some swelling. The final result should be seen about one week after the injection.

Can Juvederm be used at the same time as Botox?

It most certainly can! With the combination of both you will achieve the best results. The Botox is used to relax the muscles giving you longer lasting results.

Does Juvederm  hurt?

There may be some discomfort during and after the injection. Juvederm  is injected with a very fine needle lessening the discomfort. A numbing cream can also be applied to make your experience more comfortable.

 How long does Juvederm last?

After reviewing all the data and experience of practitioners involved, it was determined that Juvederm may last six to twelve months, depending on formulation used and placement site.
